Nourishing the body

I just finished a bowl of the most satisfyingly tasty vegetables mixed with some couscous. Have you ever had food that’s made you sing? That’s what this bowl done to me.

Recently, iv been embarking on a more healthier lifestyle. Specifically with the foods I put in my body. And it’s no exaggeration to say that it’s changed my life. I’m 20, used to be quite content with the fact that I didn’t cook that often. Used to “need” my day time naps. Used to struggle to stay awake in lecture. NOW I’m alive! Literally, i’m much more happy, full of energy, with a new love and appreciation for life. Not to mention this has been the most iv ever cooked in my life (and I don’t mean putting together a bowl of salad!) iv been more creative with the food I make, more aware of what I’m putting in my body and have so joyously reaped the benefits of its nutrients. Goodbye moodswings. Even my menstrual cramps have lessened substantially.

But seriously, the message today is simply this. When you’re about to prep some food, be it a snack or a meal, think about what impact its going to have on you. I don’t think I ever thought I’d embrace so lovingly being a vegan. But here I am 3 months in, no meat, no milk, no eggs, now iv only got fish left to give up. And it’s been easier than I initially thought it would be.

So to summerize, you are what you eat. That statement once upon a time used to confuse me but now I understand. I used to be a doughnut. Lol along with other things. So give it a try, embrace being healthier.

Lots of love x
